The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people, founded in 1951. The Nature Conservancy protected more than 117 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of rivers worldwide and operate more than 100 marine conservation projects globally.  They address threats to conservation involving climate change, fire, fresh water, forests, invasive species and marine ecosystems. Established in Bangladesh, SHPL has developed a revolutionary course for Bangladeshi women to gain training and skills needed to be self-sufficient women's health care providers.  This course trains Bangladeshi rural women to fulfill the United Nations recommendations for reducing mother and child health risks.  The Community Maternity Practitioner (CMP) program empowers women through self-employment as a health care provider which benefits the rural communities.  CMP's can practice in their home villages through rural-level private practices, or provide care jointly with the village doctors.  CMP's may also employ their communities junior CMP's  in their practice.  These approaches enable women to earn a living and maintain acceptable living standards.  ...more

MotherstoMothers raises money with the simple notion that mothers have an instant bond with all mothers regardless of geography, race or social circumstance.  Contributions are made through the website; motherstomothers.net, on baby registries and other gift registries along with grants and a growing mothers’ network.

MotherstoMothers is a non-profit organization that will use the money raised and the collective experience of its Directors to benefit all vulnerable mothers and young women around the world.  Innovative programs are developed to allow for survival and independence by means of women's co-operatives, bank loans, computer training and internet communication. MotherstoMothers will also facilitate empowerment workshops that help to establish women's support networks and provide much needed nutrition and supplies.

During one-year residencies, artist use every imaginable art form including theater, mime, puppetry, mural painting, sculpture and poetry to bring the organizations environmental and social messages to life and engage the local community in their activities.
