Whether it is passion or fury, joy or melancholy, defiance
or playfulness, the many moods and emotions of the human soul are personified with insightful determination. “It
is not enough to paint a captivating visual. I want to appeal to the viewer’s psyche – to get them to FEEL
the painting, and thus – to SHARE that emotion, if even for a brief moment.”
In the “Charisma”
and “DragonHorse” series, Ellen takes her strongest artistic inspiration, the horse, and captures the magical
and undying spirit; and graceful, yet powerful movement of this spellbinding creature and entwines them with the emotions
of the human soul.
Raised and influenced by an Asian-American family of artists, Ellen has always explored
and appreciated creative expression and the blending of cultures and ethnicities. Early introductions to the Asian arts
of brush painting and calligraphy stemmed from her Korean mother and aunt, both artists – Chung Soon Fwhang O'Dwyer
and Duk Soon Fwhang, as well as a broad appreciation for all media through the renowned Salmagundi Club in NYC.
Ellen resides on a horse farm in central New Jersey and works in the pharmaceutical industry. She holds an MBA and a BS
in Biology.
Ellen is an enthusiastic supporter of the local arts, managing charity events that drive awareness
and cultural understanding, and that fund artistic growth and appreciation. She actively participates in both corporate
and cultural art exhibits, and her work is appreciated in growing numbers of private and corporate collections.
