Intra-terrestrial
Saturday, August 9th, 2008, 3 – 6 PM
The
Spark 161 West 22nd Street (6th & 7th Ave) New York, NY, 10011
Global Fusion Art is happy to present a special event dedicated to intra-terrestrial
life and existence. Intra-terrestrial life refers to all things originating on our planet earth and it’s atmosphere.
At times what is in essence intra-terrestrial, can appear extraterrestrial. Regardless of whether or not we believe in extraterrestrial
life, we (earthlings) can appreciate, protect and preserve the planet that we inhabit in our current space and time. In the
work of our participating Global Fusion artists, we find various aspects of our contrasting intra-terrestrial life and nature.
Global Fusion Art is a collective group of multicultural
artists and communities committed to support cross-cultural understanding through visual arts, music, performance and multi-media.
We seek to raise awareness of the global community and promote individuals and organizations that provide humanitarian services
across the world. For this event, artists have pledged 10% of sale price of artwork and event proceeds will be donated
to the Nature Conservancy, protecting nature and preserving life worldwide.
Participating Visual Artists:
Farhana Akhter, Baishian Bai, Emma Ehrenthal, Christina Lum,
Tehniyet Masood, Chandini Pinilla, Damaso Reyes, Juan Carlo Suazo, Ellen Woods
4:30 pm – Photojournalist Damaso Reyes will be showing and discussing his work from The Europeans,
his long-term project documenting how Europe is changing as the European Union expands. Using the themes of Immigration, Economics,
Politics and identity, Reyes travels throughout the changing landscape of Europe in order to both preserve a record of that
which is disappearing as well as documenting the ephemeral nature of change. Wine
and Light refreshments will be served. Admission Fee: $10 Suggested
