 Global Fusion Art presents…
Paradox Lost and Found
Friday, September 5th, 2008, 6 – 9 PM
The Spark 161
West 22nd Street (6th & 7th Ave) New
York, NY, 10011
Presented
with modern dilemmas, how do contemporary multicultural artists address contradictions, ambiguity, and truth? Global
Fusion Art presents selected work by artists who explore these questions and investigates the boundaries between abstraction
and representation, fact and fiction, order and chaos. Creating by deciding what not to create or, creating by cancellation
working individually or, collaboratively. Enlarging the artistic sphere by addition and accumulation of non-artistic
elements. The participating artists engage with the uncertain and accepted assumptions in art and culture, presenting
contradictions that are at times disconcerting, playful and unexpected.
Participating Visual Artists: Christopher
Agostino, Farhana Akhter, Michael Ricardo Andreev, Yael Degany, Gregory Ilich, Victoria
Krassa, Todd Monaghan, Sheena Sood, Tasneem Shahzad, Carol Colby Tanenbaum
Performance: Bodies Alive! Painted Bodies, Living Art by Christopher Agostino
A live body-painting continuous performance by Christopher Agostino
will take place during the event. He will paint a model
in a design from his Modern Primitive Art series. Christopher is currently engaged in a visual art project, painting a series
of bodies for a future gallery show exploring the linkage between the development of modern art in response to the exposure
of artists such as Picasso and Matisse to the tribal art of African and other cultures. He explores this by bringing the images
and concepts of modern artists back onto the body within the context of traditional bodyart designs. Bodyart is a fundamental
human art in all cultures, and as such it is the initiating source of many visual art concepts. Christopher states, “By
combining the images of modern 20th century artists with the traditional body designs of cultures that may have influenced
them I am returning this art to its source”.
Global Fusion Art is a collective group of multicultural artists and communities committed
to support cross-cultural understanding through visual arts, music, performance and multi-media. We seek to raise awareness
of the global community and promote individuals and organizations that provide humanitarian services across the world.
